And that's all she wrote.........

It's official.....
I have a first draft.
Woo hoo!!!!!! I was running around my house squealing last night when I finished. My husband, who does try his best to be supportive but really doesn't get it, says "Oh good, you're all the way done?" (he's been a little bummed by me completely ignoring him for the past week). And I stop squealing and spinning and say, "No, this was just the first draft. Now I have to start at the beginning and re-write most of it." So he sighs, pastes on a big fake smile and tells me congratulations.
The end still ins't quite how I want it, and most of the beginning needs to be scrapped and re-written. And there are three or four major plot changes I made along the way that created huge inconsistencies.
I think I'll make a list of everything that needs to be changed as they come to me, and next week (cause I need some time off - whew!) I'll get back to it and get this baby polished and shining.
In the mean time.......I have a first draft!!!!!!!
Congrats, Haley! Getting that first draft is such a huge accomplishment! Good luck with revisions.
Thanks Kelly! I'm so thrilled. How are your revisions going??
That's awesome!!!!
Congratulations.
Is this your first manuscript?
I have to say, based on the subs on RWC, you're a very good writer. I bet you won't need as many revisions as you think!
Anyways, This is great!
I can't wait to see what happens.
Hi Jessica! This is my first manuscript, hence my bouncing and squealing :)
And thanks so much - I'm glad you liked the writing, but the plot! My god this plot got convoluted. It's going to take a lot of work to make it make sense!
Sometimes all you have to change are a few sentences to fix the plot.
Maybe.
I'm still revising my first wip because the plot got changed so often. lol
Have fun!
I happen to like revising a lot because the words are already down so in a way there's more freedom to be creative.
Good luck on your revisions, Jessica. I'm hoping I like the process as much as you do :) We'll see how much work it takes - there's no real way to know until you're knee-deep into it, is there?
Congratulations Hal!! I'm so happy for you! It's a great feeling isn't it? I've heard there isn't a lot that beats the feeling of finishing your first book. Bask away.
Hey Marn! Thanks! I'm definitely still basking in it - it's such a wonderful feeling of accomplishment. Of course, hopefully I'll still love it once I've rewritten it four times :) Have you started revisions, or are you still working on a different project?
Haleigh, it's a LONG story but I'm on to my next book instead of revising. I hope your revisions go well!:)
Good luck with your next project Kelly! Sometimes moving on is all you can do for a while :)
